Ballroom Dancer special mention at Tribeca

Last night Ballroom Dancer got a special mention from the jury at Tribeca Film Festival in New York. We are very happy and very proud of the two directors Andreas Koefoed and Christian Bonke! Hurray!

Enemies of Happiness at the Cinematheque in CPH

To mark the publication of Ib Bondebjergs book "Reality Pictures. The Modern Danish Documentary" the Cinematheque invites for talks between Ib Bondebjerg and six key Danish documentary film directors - including Eva Mulvad - about documentaries as a genre and directors' artistic strategies. Here Mulvad will screen 'Enemies of Happiness' (2006), which is about the courageous female politician Malalai Joya, who are fighting for democracy and equality for women in Afghanistan.

The Good Life at the Danish Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria

Danish documentaries to create debate and reflection.

The Danish Embassy in Sofia has on the occasion of the Danish EU presidency selected a handful of Danish documentaries to create a platform for discussion and debate. We are happy to announce that one of the selected films is The Good Life by Eva Mulvad. By screening The Good Life the hope is to invite citizens to take part in the debate of EU policies and institutions. On this occasion, Eva Mulvad will participate in the screening of the film the 24th of April in Sofia, Bulgaria. Gambler Revival 2 - now at Hot Docs!

Watch out Toronto! It is now official that the Hot Docs International Documentary Festival is screening Gambler by Phie Ambo as one of the 189 films for their 2012 festival. This year's festival, running from April 26th to May 6th features documentaries in 11 different programs from over 50 countries. Gambler will be on screen Sun, May 6 7:00 PM as part of the program "Documentary Plays Itself" - a classic doc screening series looking at movies about making movies. Gambler Revival

We are excited to announce that Phie Ambos entertaining documentary "Gambler" from 2006 about film director Nicolas Winding Refn and his struggle to clear himself of a personal debt of DKK 5.5 million, has now gained a renewed popularity in Europe. The Documentary just had a screening i Valencia, Spain, at the culture house La Casa Ecendida, and will appear this March in the cinema  Filmoteca de Cantabria in Santander, Spain. The increased popularity is probably linked to Winding Refn's own movie "Drive" that has received much publicity and won the award for best director at Cannes Film Festival 2011.

Danish Film - A Selection: The Good Life

European film lovers will have great opportunity to experience The Good Life during the Danish EU Presidency, 1 January - 30 June 2012. The Good Life is one of the 20 films in the special Blu-ray edition "Danish Film - A Selection" issued by the Danish Film Institute, where Documentaries is one of four categories. The Blu-ray is offered to Danish representations and cultural institutes throughout the EU for them to arrange screenings of Danish films with local partners, and we are happy to announce that Sigrid Dyekjær and Eva Mulvad have been invited to represent a screening of The Good Life in Sofia, Bulgaria.

60 seconds

Phie Ambo will participate in this rather cracy event in Tallinn on the 22nd. Each director contributes with a film of 60 seconds, which will be assembled and shown only one time at which event the film will be burnt in front of the audience.....!

Phie explains her motivation for participation like this:

I was hooked when I read that the film would be shown on 35 mm on the waterfront and burnt while playing. What a beautiful tribute to the elements! I really like that this project was invented out of pure joy and has absolutely no market value. This is very rare and wonderfully irrational.

My contribution shows one of corner stones of biodynamic farming - creating organic fertilizer.

Doc Alliance Winner: The Good Life

This Friday at the awards ceremony at CPH:DOX The Good Life won the Doc Alliance award! Eva Mulvad received the award on stage, surprised and very happy.

DOC ALLIANCE SELECTION represents five high-quality films, all first or second feature documentaries by talents discovered by the five Doc Alliance festival partners. The films tour at the five Festivals starting at VISIONS DU REEL Nyon. The five national markets support the films at their festivals and in their theatrical, TV and DVD distribution. At the end of the year an international jury decides about the Doc Alliance Award.

The Home Front in NY

The Home Front by Phie Ambo is selected for DocuWeeks and will be showing in New York 12-18th of August

TheHome Front is about conflicts in our private sphere: feuds between neighbors. The film follows a boundary inspector who mediates between disagreeing neighbors. We enter the homes of the feuding parties to learn about the conflicts from both sides. Why is it so difficult to solve a conflict so close at hand? And what do fences and hedges represent? Is this really what the conflicts are all about?

"The Good Life" at Roskilde Festival 2011

The documentary "The Good Life" is showing at Roskilde Festival 12 'o clock at the 28th of june. “The Good Life” is an entertaining tragi-comic story of glory and fall. But it is also a film about upbringing and overprotection in a family that had it all and ended up with nothing. A dark tale of a mother and daughter who dreamt that they could live happily ever after, but their fate wanted it differently …

Love Addict world premiere

On Wednesday the 6th of April at 7pm, Pernille Rose Groenkjaer's brand new feature documentary, LOVE ADDICT will premiere simultaneously in 40 cinemas throughout Denmark. The entire creative team behind the film will be present in Grand Teatret in Copenhagen, and after the screening, the director will take the stage and participate in a debate about the film and the phenomenon of love addiction. The debate will be live streamed in all 40 cinemas, and everyone has a chance to participate and ask questions to Pernille via SMS.
